Holy Joe's Cafe
Holy Joe's Cafe originated from the First Congregational Church in Wallingford, CT in 2006. Based on a simple goal to collect and ship coffee thus assisting our military chaplains in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the globe where our troops were serving.
What began as a coffee drive with a church family grew into a national donation effort.
The Coffee House at Sather AFB was a project o[operated by the Chaplains" office and began as 100 cups weekly make-shift ministry, now serves over 3,500 cups weekly, serving as a mechanism for getting soldiers acquainted with the on base chapel.
Holy Joe's now serves troops and Chaplain's around the world.
At this time our troops in Afghanistan, Africa, the Middle East and the high seas find themselves in difficult and life threatening situations. This exacts an extreme physical, emotional, and psychological toll on them. Our chaplains are a first line of defense against the issues faced by our troops.
Through Holy Joe's Cafe Ministry, the support that is offered to them is so effective and well received, that the outreach program has grown to assist hundreds of chaplains of various faiths.
HOW TO SUPPORT HOLY JOE'S
1. Donate coffee at Our lady of Loreto Church.
2. Ask your friends, fellow workers and businesses to help us.
3. Any and all contributions of BAGS OF REGULAR GROUND COFFEE will be gratefully appreciated.
HOW IT WORKS
The coffee ministry, UCC Coffee project partners with Holy Joe's Cafe to support chaplains and troops around the globe.
This is an excellent interfaith project that touches so many lives when they are in need. A cup of coffee can open many doors. The plan works simply by collecting coffee here at Our Lady of Loreto and shipping the cofee to military chaplains of all faith in the armed forces. The Chaplains then set up coffee urn sor makeshift cafes where our troops can take a breath, find peace and quiet and may even take the first step towards prayer.
Chaplains have told us that a single cup of coffee has led the way for Soldiers to return to the Church.
WE ARE IN NEED OF BAGS OF REGULAR GROUND COFFEE ONLY.
PLEASE, NO CANS OR PLASTIC CONTAINERS OF COFFEE. The soldiers prefer regular coffee (NOT DECAFFEINATED).
Since 2006, hundreds of Holy Joe's Cafes have opened...serving millions of cups of coffee. Your help in this project is greatly appreciated.
